My Reading List -- The Top Twenty (or so)

I love to read. There are few things that give me more satisfaction and happiness than a good book, and it's been this way since long before I entered the 1st grade at age 6. I've gone through stages in my life where I devoured one horror novel after another, or raced through a summer of romance novels, or improved my mind with biographies or historical novels. At the moment, I hop between thrillers and family drama. So with that in mind, I present my top twenty or so favorite novels. But it represents so much more than a list of titles -- these are my very most favorite authors too. I have read almost every book written by these extraordinarily gifted writers. Seeing this list, if you have suggestions for my future reading, I would be so happy to hear from you!

Top Twenty Books

Sharon E. Dreyer

The Stand is also one of my favorite Stephen King novels. I enjoyed it more than Salem's Lot. I understand how you jump from one genre to another. However, nowadays I read more science fiction than anything else. Thanks for sharing your list.

Check out my first and recently released novel, Long Journey to Rneadal. This exciting story is a romantic action adventure in space.

Your new book sounds very interesting! I hope sales just jump off the charts. I live in Kingsland, not too far from you.

Top Twenty List

Thank you so much. Increasing book sales would be a great thing and something of a dream for me. Is Kingsland as dry as we are? Everything is burnt and crispy here in San Antonio.

Yes, we're in severe drought

Yes, we're in severe drought too. It's pretty scary!

Acouple of suggestions...

Okay, a couple of suggestions...
1) J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series (My husband and I got into them and I read them aloud to him...even taking vacation when the last one came out).
2) "Atlas Shrugged" and "The Fountainhead" by Ayn Rand (These are especially impressive novels once you know that Ayn was Russian-born and English was not her primary language. "AS" tops my all-time favorite list...I even read the philosophy chapter near the end of the book, but I suggest skipping all but the first and last couple pages of that chapter if reading philosophy would drive you crazy.)
3) Rob Smith's novels, in particular, "McGowan's Call" and "McGowan's Retreat", but "Night Voices" is a decent read, too (Okay: disclaimer...he's not the most famous author, but he is my husband and a good writer to boot).

Suggestions ...

Thanks for the suggestions! I read Atlas Shrugged many years ago -- not sure if I even finished it though. Maybe I will revisit it. And it would be my pleasure to check into your husband's books! Always exciting to find a new author. Another one that I left off my list was Kyle Mills. I love his characters.
