I just finished reading Free Book by Brian Tome (publisher Thomas Nelson provided me with a complimentary copy). Through true-life experience, Tome shares his belief that God means for us to be free in all aspects of our lives. There are some refreshing gold nuggets of eye-opening truths inside, and I’m very glad I read the book. I laughed out loud over Tome’s words about the Holy Ghost, aka the Holy Spirit. The word Ghost, he said, brings to mind “a personal entity, a person instead of an aura.” I agree with that, and I bet God got a kick out of it too. I also liked the part about strongholds and the freedom-limiting power they have over our lives. It did make me take a fresh look at the strongholds in my own life. Submission to authority is never easy, but Tome made a lot of sense when he explained that submitting is really freeing. I wasn’t crazy about some style aspects of the book and felt there was too much repetition without enough additional insight added. It did drag sometimes, but it was well worth reading. On a scale of 1-5, I would give it a 3.
