I'm a middle of life mama with three children (ages 21, 18 and 6). This is important since I write often of my kids, and mostly they are flattered, sometimes they are embarrassed. This must mean I'm doing my job as a mom and a writer. You can read more at www.michellezive.com. I started writing when I wanted to find a job where I didn't have to leave my house. Once I worked through this anxiety and found out I could write more than just about my dad, I realized I loved writing. It was better than therapy, and I had a lot to say about this crazy life. My hope is as I navigate through the gray and muckiness, my path will bring light and levity to people who read my work. My unpublished memoir, LETTING GO: A MOTHER'S STORY, won a San Diego Book Award.
I'm a CrossFit fanatic. This is a workout that hurts my body, feelings and pride, but I continue to go back for more. I love reading. My biggest challenge is finding the time and giving myself permission to sit down and read. I'm a doer. It's one of the reasons I've written three novels, fifty short stories and two memoirs. It's also the reason I haven't published. In 2011, I am resolved to focus my attention to read and publish more.
