Michelle Richmond is the author of the New York Times and international bestseller The Year of Fog, No One You Know, Dream of the Blue Room, and the award-winning story collection The Girl in the Fall-Away Dress. Her stories and essays have appeared in Glimmer Train, Playboy, Oxford American, The Believer, Salon.com, The Kenyon Review, The Missouri Review, and elsewhere. She received the 2009 Hillsdale Award for Fiction from the Fellowship of Southern Writers and the 2006 Mississippi Review Fiction Prize.
Michelle holds an MFA from the University of Miami, where she was a James Michener Fellow. In Spring of 2012, she will hold the CJ Chair at Notre Dame de Namur University. She has taught creative writing at the University of San Francisco and California College of the Arts, and has served as Distinguished Visiting Writer at Bowling Green State University and St. Mary's College of Moragao. She serves on the Executive Council of the Authors Guild.

A native of Mobile, Alabama, Michelle lives with her husband and son in Northern California.
