The massacre that tore its way into the steel heart of Manhattan, into the fortress Pentagon, and into a broad meadow in Pennsylvania—savagely ending the lives of two thousand nine hundred seventy seven innocents in agonizing moments of hellish terror and torture—did not splash the first moral blood stain against the gentle summer month of September. From the same depraved caves in the human heart from which the murderous Islamic butchers sprang on September 11, 2001, equally depraved French revolutionist killers emerged for their grisly work on September 2, 1792.
