I received my performance review the day before yesterday.
As expected, it left me confused and a bit demoralized.
My manager wrote a glowing review, you know, that sort of walks on water without splashing narrative, and I received a high rating.
After I received this rating, I pondered the gap between my expectations and their rating of my work endeavours.
Then I dismissed it.
In many ways, they validated exactly what I believe, that what I do really has little to do with how I'm rated. As far as meeting their expectations....
Well, that's their problem.
