Today's mantra is heal.
It's less for myself, although I would like to heal myself of the self-doubt I constantly inflict on myself, causing me to worry, over-analyze, procrastinate and question. It's my one weakness.
Heal is the mantra for my wife and the Gingerbear King. He's actually doing remarkably well but it's necessary to stay vigilant against his disease. It's great to see him running around with renewed vigor.
My wife, however, has picked up the crud sweeping the town like a dance sensation. Heal is the mantra to help her cope with her illness as well as her chronic disease, and its flares of pain and stiffness affecting her limbs and organs, pain and discomfort that she endures with Scotch-Irish Protestant stoicism, the stuff of her people's homeland.
I think heal is the mantra for the nation, too, though, after the election. It's the right mantra for the Republicans and others who believe we chose entitlement and laziness. We that elected Barack Obama believe we've chosen a path of sharing and helping. We want to share our wealth and good fortune, and help solve the world and one another's problems. We want to lessen the ravages of disease, homelessness, poverty and misfortune. We want to be the tide that lifts up everyone, reaching out and helping one another, educating one another, building on the knowledge, technology and civiliazation that others bequeathed us, and passing it on to future generations. We want all to share in our good fortune and share, no matter their sexual preference, no matter their heritage and religion, no matter their nation.
Heal is the mantra for the world's people and nations. So many are being torn apart and displaced by war, drought, disease, disaster and greed. Heal is the mantra for the displaced people and refugees seeking a better life, hope and freedom.
Heal is the mantra for the bullied and the bullies, to help them recover and move on from the injuries and injustices they've suffered and inflicted on others. Heal is for those we've tortured and those who tortured, that all recover from thinking, hey, it's okay to hurt someone else if they have information. Heal is the mantra for those who think the only salvation is through violence, war and revenge.
Heal is the mantra for our planet, lovely Mother Earth, sweet, giving Gaia, our spaceship, as Bucky would say, and all that we've done and we're doing in the name of profit, greed, and energy freedom. Heal is the mantra for all of our drilling, fracking, exploding and building, our mountain top removals and our strip mines, and our wanton pollution that colors and poisons our pure air and water. Heal is the mantra for all the animals we kill and torture in the name of health and prosperity, and the ones we kill, maim and torture for blood fun, or to further our independence and wealth, to feed ourselves cheaply, and to cloth ourselves with their hides.
