Today - The Blues
Blog Post by Michael Seidel - Dec.20.2011 - 5:35 pm
Going down to Roscoe's for the Blues tonight. Several performers will be there, best of all, Karen Lovely. She has a big blues voice. Reminds me of Beth Hart. No local guitarists quite match Les Paul, or Misters Clapton, Vaughn (either the late Stevie Ray or brother Jimmy), Guy, King (Albert or BB) or Allman, but it will still be fun, kicking back, taking a turn on the dance floor, and visiting with friends.
Hope everyone is having a like good time tonight or today, wherever you are.
Writing is exploring myself and discovering the stories and characters that managed to burrow into me. It's a trek, a space shot, an endurance race, a transcendental existence and a dark, worrying tunnel.”

Surviving The Holidays
Oh man, nothing beats a live blues show. I could go for that right now. (Of course, if i went for that right now, I'd have to travel maybe 3 hours each way.) I gotta get out more.
You missed a good one
You should have been there, Ron, such great local talent, and this time doing true blues. Three different bands, bunch of guest performers. We'd arrived at 5:20. All the good tables were already occupied but within ten minutes it was clear we were lucky to have a table at all.
My friend and companion knew many of them from his years as a bouncer in a couple music halls. We were by the door so every time another came in, cries of greetings went up and the musician would walk over and exchange hellos.
The place became packed. Max occupancy is 146. One co-owner, a friend of our's, was walking around every twenty minutes, counting heads to ensure the occupancy didn't go over.
I enjoyed a bit of dancing and a few pints of Moosedrool brown ale, which was quite fine. It was a good way to spend a cold night but weirdly, it was strange being in such a club without any cigarette smoke.
