The Writing Day

Feed the cats. Check. Shave, shower, dress, eat breakfast, all checks. Walk to The Beanery, write and edit. Check, check, check.

I revised and edited my short story again, reducing it by over seven hundred words to 8780. This is my third edit. The second half needed little attention. It flowed out as a whole piece, mostly demanding that I keep up with my typing. The first half, though, had come in fits as I realized the situation and story and added and changed words and descriptions to maintain logical consistency, add details and explain enough for people to follow. I think I succeeded in that but that's where most of my word cuts were found. I'd explained, then explained what I explained, or added explanations again. I see how much of it was to help me realize matters and keep them straight but now, with the story and events fully known, they were unnecessary. I feel great about the story but then, it's my story. Its the adventures and fantasy that I love. If I don't like it, who else will?

Time to submit. Three, two, one, launch submit sequence.

Submit.

The writing day has been very rewarding and satisfying. Now off to take my wife shopping, run around and do errands. Then back to "Peerless" later.

It's been a good day to write, a large step forward in my five year plan to be happy.
