The novel in progress goes well, with the chapter in process written, edited and revised. On to other additions and revisions.
I look forward to finishing this novel so I can move on to other writing projects. I have so many littering my notebook, computer and mind. Some were begun and put on pause. Others have been completed but need editing and revising.
For now I content myself with working on the novel, focusing on finishing now and now finishing, and dabbling in a short story or three on the side. I look forward to the future days when I can read and write all day long.
Isn't that the writer's fantasy - the 'writer's life'? Reading and writing for a living, meeting with other writers over coffee or drinks, traveling and writing, being and writing?
It's my fantasy dream, just like my teen age notion of turning sixteen and getting my driver's license and then being free. Or becoming an adult and having my own place, with nobody telling me what to do, or making my first million and never having to worry about money again.
No, I think my writer's fantasy life is more like falling in love for the first time, a memory that lingers and still seems possible and beautiful, long after it's done.
