My city has heard the homeless and their complaint about the lack of hot showers, and has responded by making arrangements to provide showers in the old police station, which is limited in use to some civic functions. My wife and some friends are trying to resurrect a project that was done before, whereby people collected and donated soap and shampoo from hotels. Go to the hotel, bring back the soap, if you can, donate it to the homeless. We were doing that in past years to donate the soap and shampoo to female prisoners. Logistics became cumbersome, and the effort faded away.
My wife is also trying to get some people and the city together to arrange for donated old towels. It's still in discussion stages.
