You ever get into one of those moods where you want something and you know exactly what it is - but you can't get it?
You have arrived at my station.
I have a cookie craving today. Oreos, chocolate chip, peanut butter or Fig Newtons will not suffice, no! I desire a Mount Hood cookie.
Cravings strike like lightning from a clear sky - zap, get me a cookie. My favorite cookie is a chewy oatmeal raisin cinnamon although a white chocolate chunk with cashews is also excellent, but today called for a Mount Hood.
A cookie is an unusual craving for me. Some men are Oldsmobile fellows but I've always been a pie man. I don't sneer at ice cream, sorbet, gelato or frozen yogurt, though. I will also usually step up if a scone or turnover is offered. Licorice entices me, and the dark godess, Chocolate, knows how to seduce me and all manners of fruit know that I'm their's for a whisper.
But today's call was for a Mount Hood cookie. I was thinking about it as I walked under a warm 75 F day wealthy with sunshine and blue sky. The Beanery stocks them so arriving there, I scanned the offerings for its label.
I looked over the case and counter. Coconut cream pie, peanut butter cookies, biscotti, coffee cake, brownies, maple nut scones, and various chocolate and caramel candies winked at me.
I shunned them all. My heart belongs to a Mount Hood cookie today, and to that craving I will remain faithful.
