Turns out there is another rant in me this morning. Who is surprised?
This one is also work related.
I received my LinkedIn update today and discovered a good many co-workers left our team and found new employment elsewhere. It's disturbing to learn because it's another reminder of how being a remote worker affects my ability to know what's going on and how often management and other team members don't inform me of events like people leaving. I'm left wondering, were they fired as part of the continuous downsizing and reorgs? Were they recruited? Or did they just stock up on their potatoe recipes and then say, "I quit?"
It's also disturbing to learn they left and didn't bother to tell me themselves. I always had fun with them. I considered many of them to be friends. Was it not reciprocated? Or did they say farewall and I didn't get the email? Did they think I had already left the company? I guess therein lies a truth, that it's nothing personal, just business.
No wonder I feel so isolated in my work.
