"Stump the ESP Skeptic" VII: Suicide Watch

“Due to a series of bad relationships in my life, and to my rundown state of health, I just couldn’t see any sense in my life going on. With my thoughts running round and round in endless circles, I began to think of a way to end it all. Suddenly, as clearly as if she were in the room, I heard the voice of my close friend say, ‘Don’t do it, Maryann!’  I was so dumbfounded that it jolted me right out of my helpless state of mind. She lived in Florida, and I lived in New Jersey. She was an older woman who had taken a great liking to me, because she thought I resembled her only daughter who had died some time before.

To hear her voice speak to me in the dead of night, when I knew she was more than a thousand miles away, was quite a shock. I thought it was just due to my overwrought nerves, until the next day when she contacted me. She said she had been wakened in the middle of the night by an urgent feeling that I needed help. She got up and prayed for me until dawn. It was one of the most beautiful and mysterious experiences I have ever had.”
