The difficulty of writing a collection of poems is as nothing compared with that of finding a publisher for it. For the first time in well over a decade I've embarked on the search for a publisher. Actually, that should be publishers, because I have two completely disparate collections ready.
The first is Twisted Fish, a collection of recent material and uncollected work. The second is The Days, How They Pass, a project in which I wrote a poem a day for 365 consecutive days. I've been podcasting The Days in batches of twenty (sunkisland.podomatic.com) and need to catch up on the last hundred or so.
I've already sent Twisted Fish to a small press publisher with a good reputation, but I won't hold my breath. I may decide to pdf both collections and make them available free online irrespective of whether they get accepted for print publication.
In the meantime I've got at least three more collections on the go.
