Michael Balter grew up in Los Angeles and has lived in Paris for the last 20 years. He was Paris bureau chief for Science magazine for 10 years, and now serves as a part-time correspondent for the journal, covering archaeology and human evolution. He is an occasional contributor to the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, International Herald Tribune, and Bon Appetit magazine. He is the author of the archaelology book "The Goddess and the Bull," and currently teaches journalism at New York University. He previously taught journalism at Boston University.
