No Money-- Just a Few Minutes
Let's Help The Children

My friends, today I have another “free” opportunity to show how much you care about improving the lives of children with cancer.

Also, have you ever wondered how much you really do know about childhood cancer? Have you ever wondered how much you don’t know?  There is a short survey to help you:

There may be some surprises for you. I will admit there was a big surprise for me. I was shocked to learn what a  pitifully tiny amount that the American Cancer Society contributes for childhood cancer. Hmmmmm…. I may have to work on them to create a “Childhood Branch.” I mean, kids are “Americans” too!

Does it appear to you that I am on a mission? Yes, I am certainly on a mission! There is no way I can sit back and do nothing… I truly love the children. They need us!

You mission

I commend you for your mission on childhood cancer. I used to volunteer (during college years) at the University Hospital in Cleveland with "terminally ill" children. Another name for cancer-stricken children. They were just like any ordinary child, and I truly enjoyed playing with them. The downside was that one day I'd be playing and laughing with them, and upon my return the following week, I would find out that they were no longer with us. It was heart rendering to me because I would become emotionally attached to them, and I was just a volunteer. Can you imagine what devastation and loss the parents felt??!!

Fast forward several years later. I ended up being a cancer research biologist that lasted over a decade (at the Cleveland Clinic). After marrying and settling down, I became a stay-at-home mother. Meanwhile, my husband and I experienced our own sadness when loved ones (his mother, my father) died from cancer. We started studying the cancer program in the U.S. and concluded that it was a failure. Our recent article "The U.S. Cancer Program, 1975-2006: A Failure" is now available at the Townsend Letter. Online, it can be found at http://www.townsendletter.com

People need to wake up and voice their concerns, like you are doing, about cancer. It is unacceptable to have allowed it to progress this far. From our statistics, one American is dying from cancer every minute!

Good luck with your mission and keep up the good work!
