The author of a number of books, one a Sunday Times No. 4 Bestseller, Mel is driven by a desire to help others. Whether writing how-to books for personal development, inspirational biographies, or fiction, this compulsion is always evident in the compassion and brutal honesty of her style. All proceeds from sales of her latest novel, A Painful Post Mortem, are for the charities, Tearfund and Care For The Family, for projects benefiting children.
Mel is also an experienced Speaker, and has addressed live audiences of between 20 and 700+ in addition to participating in TV and Radio chat shows, leading Family Forums, Marriage Enrichment, and Writers' Workshops.
A leather bound volume of Great Short Stories of the World, read to me by father when I was a child. Stories like The Necklace, by Guy de Maupassant, and The Selfish Giant by Oscar Wilde fuelled my imagination and fired my sense of morality and deception. My father subscribed to Argosy magazine which, naturally, became a favourite of mine, particularly stories like H.E. Bates The Darling Buds of May.
The only Introvert in my family, I gravitated, naturally, to the attic where my father's books were stored. He and I shared an Intuitive perception which led to much lively debate and discussion. But my Christian faith was shared by none of my family and this, perhaps more than anything, influenced my reading matter and motivated my writing.

A short book, working title Enlarge My Vision, based on a Keynote Address I gave at a major conference last month, intended to inspire and encourage readers; to give them the security of a stable base, and the courage to reach beyond their comfort zones.

Currently, I have no agent. Before taking on a full-time job as Copyright Manager to a music publishing company (when I was writing full-time) I was with Curtis Brown in London.
