Grew up in Southern Ontario in a working class Dutch immigrant community of staunch Calvinists. My six-word memoir: "Tight knit community. Had to leave." Not a lot of room there for unorthodox questions. But it was home and I love my people and I value the lessons I learned from them about a God-centered life and loving people despite their depravity (their word). Went on to study feminist theology. Learned about a bigger world in which racism, sexism, class oppression, etc. mix together to create a LOT of disparity. Came out. Now trying to integrate worlds. Big job.
