Eating vegan for the animals... and for me
Blog Post by Maya Gottfried - Jul.05.2011 - 9:04 am
My article, "A Vegan Diet Was My Path to Good Health" has just gone up on The Huffington Post. It means a lot to me to share what I've learned about veganism with the rest of the world. I went vegan for the animals, but in the time since I did I've learned so much about the many health benefits of eating a plant-based diet. The article lists some of these, and includes resources for learning more.

What we eat
Maya,
Congratulations on the article. I'm happy to hear of your improved health situation. What we eat has a tremendous effect on our bodies.
My husband and I consider ourselves "flexitarians." (We found the term in one of our vegetarian cookbooks.) We're not committed vegetarians at this point but I'm leaning towards it for multiple reasons, most of which you outlined in your article.
I admire you for having the courage to stick to your convictions.
Jules
Thank you for posting this,
Thank you for posting this, I am in the process of further educating myself health wise. about a month ago, I decided to give up meat and chicken. I wanted to start somewhere, not that I'm a fan of red meat but I made that commitment to start some form of elimination process on my journey to better health, thus the obvious for me -- meat and chicken. So far so good, still learning and looking at what next I can eliminate from my diet. I think I'll cut off drinking low fat milk and switch to soy instead. I'm careful not to overwhelm myself for fear I might retaliate! Thanks for your post.
