where the writers are
Falling To Their Knees

The waves on Whaleback were fierce and the winds were orange

Minneapolis was clear and sunny and the bungalows stood proudly in a row

The beach grassess on Martha's vineyard were blowing with recognition

Grand Rapids was still as any Sunday can be....

This is where your children are hovering, pacing, sleeping. This is where your children wait to hear the nurse say..."he is winding down...no need for meds, no need for food...

This is where they all think....about mortality

This is where one of them will fall to their knees,

One will cry softly with a book from mary oliver in her hand, and fall to her knees

One will down the liquor, and weep for wounds yet healed and will fall to his knees

One will lay down in a dark room and pray, knees to chest

This is what your children will do when you wind away....

and than they shall meet upon the Great Lake shores and spread you out...

They will find that childhood tree and will plant a bit of you there...

They will find your friends and laugh at your history

They will all fall to silence and St. Andrews bells will ring

When they leave they will leave empty handed and feel the weight of the loss and feel the views changing...

It will give them pause...and history will be written...

And than their children will begin to await...

The time when they to will fall to their knees...
