Marmalade Oranges in January

Marmalade oranges from Malaga

orange zest in the air

yields sunshine in my frozen nostrils

to melt the grey away;

Sangria, gazpacho, gambas

& blood red tomatoes the size of saucers drizzled

in fragrant olive oil,

a saucy sizzle of chorizo and garlic

wafts through the balm of

afternoon to a white terrace

2 blue chairs

one for you

one for me

and the sea, a giant jade

curtain opening up

ready to engulf me in its

shadowy depths.

I drown in memory this day.

Another January upon me with the slicing and juicing of marmalade oranges to tackle and how I long for the golden slivers to grace my toast! Thanks, Judee. Cheers, m
