Okay. I suppose I joined the Red Room through events that had nothing to do with me. My husband was in touch with an old school friend of his and they were talking about a high school reunion that he (my hubbie) had not been able to attend because we live in Ireland and the reunion was in Cal. Anyway, the friend gave my hub the reunion coordinator's email and with that came the Red Room because she happens to be a member, Belle Yang. I got quite excited about the idea of Red Room. Having been part of workshops here in Ireland and not really finding them any help and not really liking the way groups work, the dynamics, the head honchos, the ones who read out their work for hours on end etc. Anyway, so here I am with a few pubs under my belt, mostly in journals and anthologies, nothing special really and a play Glass that people say they really love but then nothing happens to it. And if anyone were to ask me what I do well I would have a hard time answering them back, lets see.... I suppose I could say Domestic Management, how does that sound? Or a maybe Nutritional Guidance officer, providing well balanced organic food for a family of five, no that's pretty weak. How about wardrobe coordination for five and that includes pairing thousands of white sports socks. Yes, that's more like it. Impressed? I could go on. I could say I enhance the lives of Domestic Animals, well, alright, sorry just one dog and one cat actually. But I do look after their emotional and dietary needs with an emphasis on behaviour modification, that should definitely be highlighted! Ofcourse I need to mention all the interior decoration and maintenance, involving sudden leaks, peeling of paint from ceiling over shower and numerous other emergencies that involve liasing and consulting with plumbers and electricians by the score, that is if and a huge IF I can persuade them to come by and do the job even during these supposedly recession packed days. After all that I might manage to write something, a few words perhaps, a fleeting jotting down of a rare deep thought that might come rushing through me only to evaporate as quickly as it came! So there. A big thank you to Red Room for its existence and to all those prolific writers out there in cyber space, well done!
