where the writers are
Grace and Spirit - Catherine "gets it"

To be honest when I first came to Red Room, I was enraptured by the daily creative entries of so many talented writers. At first I understood just the basics of belonging to Red Room. I entered some personal information and proceeded to read and comment and then read and comment some more…and then the intoxicating addiction of meeting the editors’ blog challenges and seeing my thoughts and ideas in written words…surely I had died and gone to heaven.

Next stage in my Red Room experience was bonding with many writers that brought learning, healing, and understanding of both trials and rewards of the writer’s role. As I stated at the beginning, I concentrated on the basics.  I read the interesting and inspiring blog posts of the members, looked over their pictures, and imagined what their lives might be like. It took a couple of years to realize that I could research every members' Bio and understand different backgrounds. This brings me to my introduction to a great writer, Catherine Nagle. Her presence in the Red Room is enlightening in that she always conveys that in her daily living she “gets it.” Not only that… she extends her kindness and her acute perceptive insight with welcome and encouraging respect to other writers. At first I imagined (looking at her picture) this glamorous writer living with her Husband and family in New York in an upscale high rise apartment. But as our acquaintance grew through blogs and comments, Catherine’s Red Room’s exchanges brought truthful and beautiful expressions to my world. She has met, accepted, and thrived wisely and gracefully with all of life’s challenges. And lucky for me I live right in Catherine’s backyard in Pennsylvania. This means I will have easy access to her book signings and possible writer events.

So, please celebrate with me the publication of Catherine’s book, Imprinted Wisdom. She steps us through her journey of constant renewal of the understanding of the “whys” of life. If you are new to the spiritual adventure this is the perfect guidebook for you . Catherine demonstrates incidents that detail crossroads that she faced .With explanations she chronicles the steps of discovery that developed recovery of joy and gratitude in her life. She leads the reader down the road to savor and appreciate every moment in life as a gift. And as for me, sometimes I feel entrapped in the…yeah, yeah ..been there done that mentality…can’t teach me anything new about God given principles. Along comes Catherine. It is true, when the lesson needs to be learned…the teacher will appear. I have come to a point in my life when it was a time for a refresher course…a spiritual reawakening that Catherine describes so well.

“ Once we are spiritually awake, as we go about living our lives, we are able to see all things as holy, right, and good; we have a better understanding of God’s purpose for us, and see that our greatest dreams do come true when we are willing to have faith in His vision, which has become our own.”

Your splendid book, Felicity & Barbara Pym, has been my resource that I refer to for learning the true academic of writing, and the spirited life combined.  It is an incredible book that I'm forever grateful to own as my treasured collection.

Yes, Catherine's writings and

Yes, Catherine's writings and shared experiences are at once an affirmation of life and a testament of triumph  over adversity--what she terms "the great  sorrow"  that others (including myself) describe as our  existential predicament or condition.  Harrison's writings, most assuredly, are always enlightening and both intellectually and emotionally intriguing.

Thanks,  Mary, for sharing your insights  and personal experiences.

Teacher and Student are One

Dear Mary,

Wow! Thank you, thank you, and thank you! Please forgive me for not getting back immediately after reading your incredible and beautifully written review. I relished every word through dinner with my special week-end guest (Tommy, page 106.) Then, afterwards, we drove him back home to his Center House that is an hour away. All through dinner and the drive, my heart was whispering, thank you, thank you, thank you. I was lost for any other words of a standing ovation to bring you, even though I heard your joyous celebration ringing through my ears.

I am thrilled that you loved Imprinted Wisdom, especially since we’ve been reading, pretty much the same type of literature for years. It’s so promising for me that your keen insight noticed that I “get it.” Honestly, I only get it through my prayer devotion - I still lose it every time I think alone.

Actually, Mary, you’re the one who gets it! Since it is “My hope is that after you read Imprinted Wisdom, you will be able to see your blessings, to count more of them that you already have.” The teacher and the student are one and the same. I’m the one who has been blessed with your inscription here!

Love,

Catherine
