Romance! Christmas! Second Chances! Happy Endings!
I was in that kind of a mood when I sat down at the keyboard in December and had to write this short story, which I finished a week before Christmas and then listed for $1.99 in the Amazon Kindle Store. There is no shortage of cosmic irony in the fact that the story is about a woman who gets marooned at her home during a snowstorm--complete with a short power outage--and only a week after I published it on line, I was TOTALLY marooned at my house with a long driveway drifted shut for an entire night and absolutely no power for FORTY HOURS!!!! I think that's what you'd call "life imitating art..." I would have made a lousy pioneer. Forty hours of pitching firewood into the fireplace to keep the pipes, the pets and me from freezing and reading by flashlight left me in a crabby mood and incredibly grateful for a hot shower...once the water heater warmed up again.
So have a Happy New Year, and take a look at the first few pages of "The Last Christmas Tree!"
