Mary Elizabeth Uhland grew up in the Pacific Northwest and has travelled extensively. After stints in the military as well as film and television, she attended various universities, eventually earning a BA, Highest Honors, in English Discourse Studies from Eastern Oregon University, and a Master of Art in Teaching from The University of Puget Sound in Tacoma, Washington. A gratefully indebted, terminal student, the Dept of Ed eventually suggested it was time for her to get a job. An English teacher, she taught in Salinas, California before moving to the south island of New Zealand. She continues to teach English and Drama. Hairy Eyeballs and Other Bad Deaths is her first novel.
