As a RedRoom newbie, I was delighted just now to discover that John Kremer is also a member of this community, as I have been reading his book, 1001 Ways to Market Your Book, http://www.bookmarket.com since I began my marketing efforts for my book, Accidental Cowgirl: Six Cows, No Horse and No Clue, http://accidentalcowgirl.com early this year. If you're trying to market a book, I highly recommend it.
His newsletters are great too, and his blog entry about book marketing as simply being the process of making friends, or making new friends (and keeping them), is an inspiration to those of us writers who are often most relaxed when hibernating. Today, I'm doing just that, but tomorrow is another day for getting out there and meeting folks.
You never know. Last week I received a call from a lady in Indiana who wanted to buy my book. Where had she heard about it, I asked. She told me she had been in my Northern California town (a tourist magnet) a month ago, and picked up one of the bookmarks I leave at the check-in desk of my health club. How remote a prospect is that? Yet it happened.
What unique or unusual marketing experiences have you had? Like to share? I'm interested, and I'm sure, so is John Kremer.
