I live in the city. I downloaded a nature app on my phone to relieve stress. I hate nature. When I sit outside it's so loud with the birds squawking , crickets chirping, mosquitos biting, and "nature sounds". I'm stressed outside and now indoors. The app stresses me out. I tried moving to Florida. I moved from New York City to Hernando County. Where is Hernando County? I know, you don't know. I didn't either until I moved there. It's in the middle of cow country. I had no neighbors, just woods surrounding me and a house across the street. When I stood on my driveway, I could hear cows mooing. My son was three at the time and afraid to walk barefoot in the grass, concrete sidewalks he was fine with but the grass was strange to him. One time I remember we went outside and he started holding his ears saying "Mommy make them be quiet, they're so loud". He meant the crickets. I agreed. When your standing in the middle of nowhere, not a car, train or horn to be heard, a cricket chirping blasts as loud as the two trains horn arriving at 96th street. I get this, I'm relaxed on the subway. Now App that! --honestly...1Urban girl.
There is an app you can download for white noise. When I went to the page, guess what the white noise was... nature sounds. I'm going to record the sound of the subway train and meditate to that.
