I always loved to read, but never thought about being a writer until my two young children inspired me. My first writing was a syndicated newspaper column entitled "homegrown treasures". It won a Best Local Columnist award from the California Newspaper Association three times.
Authors who have inspired me include J.R.R. Tolkien, Charles Dickens, Eva Ibbotson, and Kate Dicamillo.
