Workshop, Writing at the Intersection, MassPoFest

Massachusetts Poetry Festival, Salem MA Saturday May 3 11:30 AM

We all possess multiple identities, some inherited, some adopted, some imposed. What happens when diverse identities intersect, or even collide? Plenty! As Julia Alvarez notes, “I am a Dominican, hyphen, American. As a fiction writer, I find that the most exciting things happen in the realm of that hyphen — the place where two worlds collide or blend together.’ We’ll check out some poems where these conflicts and confluences are shown, and write—poetry, prose-poems, or dialog—in a way that highlights how we experience these intersections.
