Never fails. Whenever my husband's out of town, a prisoner escapes from Brushy Mountain Prison. It's all over the news. I don't know how these guys get wind of the fact that my husband is out and about. This morning he left for Cost Rica. Soon the local news will be broadcasting descriptions of the insane bad guys with knives. (With my home address at the bottom of the screen.)
Whenever I'm getting ready to take a plane, the FAA comes out with some kind of warning; the journalism industry does a hard-hitting report on "the tragic stall factor," with pictures of planes falling straight down. Yup, I'm off next week to France, and this week we have extra coverage of the new menace: birds. There's nothing a passenger can do except carry Valium.
Last time I flew to Paris I took a pill and had a drink. Not recommended! I wound up on the floor of the plane with an angelic Christian doctor looking over me and taking my blood pressure. I was fine. The doctor continues to request donations from me for his clinic in Somalia.
And let's not forget the threat of the global pandemic, the swine flu breakout in Mexico, announced yesterday.
Why not just stay home, suck thumb? Too late for that. I'm committed to this France thing. Remember to pray (but don't keep asking me for a donation!)
