Paris Stroll

But with what?? That's the key question, gang!

Today I have a delightful day of housecleaning ahead of me. I have absolutely not one iota of interest in doing this. I would much rather just sit and stare. It's humid today but not too hot so all the screen doors and windows are open and the world is calling out to me to sit and stare at it !! It's so hard to refuse this clarion call!! (Yes, clicking on that link actually teaches you something; it's not just fun & games on this lofty blog!!)

I also have 2 months exactly to re-learn all the French I've forgotten in the last 5 months. I leave for Paris on October 3rd. So today I was going to really hit the books again (the ones in French, that is), and so far I'm really excelling at staring at where the French books are sitting! (You're probably hoping that my French grammar is a heck of lot better than my English grammar...)

I'm so tempted to let today just flow away like a lovely though slightly humid river going to someplace vague and un-challenging -- and then just start studying French super hard tomorrow instead. If I were simply going to be in Paris strolling around and ordering croissants, this would be okay. But On October 6th, I will be in a Parisian bookstore with Parisian book-purchasers, all of whom speak French and will be expecting me to speak to them in French and to then understand their replies in French; sitting and staring blankly  at that point is not going to bode well for book sales. Conscientious objector (no-- just kidding about that word)... conscientious as I am about tackling every task at hand and not being a shirker means that I must get my quite comely behind moving here, gang!

I will let you know tomorrow how successful this plan has been!!

[Above photo is not of me strolling in Paris, but of others who have already learned French.]

Marilyn, I can always count

Marilyn,

I can always count on your posts to make me smile.
I am now going to sit and read on this extremely hot afternoon.

Housekeeping can wait another day.
