Today's the day you've been waiting for, land lubbers; Son of Rogue's Gallery finally becomes available for downloading! Yes, those sea chanteys are finally upon us. So grab your bottle of rum, kick back and make Mary! No, wait, I meant "make merry"!!
Well, we've got weather going on here this morning. I had no idea we were expecting weather, but as I was watching Johnny Depp on David Letterman (!! Yes!! Thanks for the midnight call, Val!! Thank goodness everyone in the universe knows that, a.) I love Johnny Depp; and b.) I am always sleeping when David Letterman is on!)... Anyway, they kept scrolling all these school closings and delays across the bottom of the screen. An indication we were expecting weather. I just now checked my trusty weather channel app, and guess what the weather alert is, gang?? This is a direct quote:
"Icing will cause some roads and sidewalks to become slippery. Use caution when outdoors."
Do you suppose when they say "icing" they are referring to cake frosting?? It just might be an absolutely terrific day today! We can only hope!!
Well, Bible Study Methods continues to be extremely interesting, gang. That is the course I am currently taking in school. Who knew it would involve charts and graphs, tables & columns? All that stuff we love to hate. It even involves colored pencils!! Yes!! I actually had to buy colored pencils and now I am coloring in my Bible. It's really called coding, but it sure looks like coloring to me. But actually, it is certainly helping me learn the Epistle of James inside and out.
The Epistle of James is my favorite book in the Bible. For school, we have to use the New International Version only because it's, like, written in a language we all actually speak. However, the King James Version is the one that's my favorite. James, 1:16-18, "Do not err, my beloved brethren. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures."
I know, I know. You don't know what the heck that means, but trust me, it's beautiful. And you know what else is beautiful (no, besides Johnny Depp)? I'll tell you. The hymn that is traditionally sung on the Feast of St. James the Just, the author of the aforementioned epistle! (James was the brother of Jesus, and the head of the first church in Jerusalem, which was primarily comprised of Jews, and the Jews in Jerusalem who weren't converting, did not like him at all. Like every good Apostle, he was martyred -- stoned to death and also had his skull broken with a club.) (Those Apostles sure went through a lot to try to steer us away from a wrathful God, to one of forgiveness and love, didn't they??)
Anyway, that hymn! Here is a stunning version of it, gang! Listen and enjoy. Have a blessed Friday, gang. Or, as we are wont to say in modern times: TGIF!! See ya, gang. Thanks for visiting.
