where the writers are

I am living in a kaleidoscope of winter.
past present, all of it a televised fiction
the language of perception is changing
the landscape is shifting pixels

Great expression of what is

Great expression of what is happening in the publishing world. However do you think about ten years from now? I do and honestly I don't know what the landscape of publishing will be. So I know right now I love to write in my journal. Writing saved my life. If all I get is the personal satisfaction and the results that give me peace then that's fine with me. Meanwhile the publishing industry is separate from my personal time writing. And I know I have great books written as well. So the personal pressure of submitting to traditional publishers is actually a joy for me because if they don't get published I know why I write: writing saves my life.

you, Michael

You and I are kindred minds on this one.

In ten years? I only know the answers will present themselves through vigilant patience. The best we can do is diligently write, so as to save our lives. It's our lot in life? All we can do is continue, with passion.

I went to see an exhibit on William Blake, at the Morgan Library. Over and over again, it's obvious that this man was brilliant, visionary and as a poet was largely disregarded during his lifetime. He made his living from engraving, but ultimately, he did make his living. And his legacy is ours.

Publishing as an industry or enterprise, is now as it has always been--fickle and changing. If we want to alter the face of these changes we must continue to pursue those topics you outline in your posts. We must look at different types of worth. I don't know the future of anything but I know dialogue like this will help us move forward. But I will think on this. I'll come back with a vision...if you will!
