I was born in Cuba, but I have lived in Florida most of my adult life. I am a bleached blonde, I am way over 21, I have raised two children, I'm still married to the same man, I'm the master of an untrainable mutt, I drive a Jeep Wrangler, I would love to be able to tan instead of burn, I have a thing for ham croquettes, I dream of caviar, I strive not to sin so I won't have to go to confession, Iand I love to read mysteries but write historical romance novels.
My first novel THE THORN AT HIS SIDE will be out soon. It's not your ordinary romance--there are no misty moors, drafty castles or titled lords and ladies with burdensome lineages. My love story takes place in Key West and mainland Florida, land of sun, sea and mosquitoes. It's quasi humorous and portrays my love for all things Florida.
My early influences were Agatha Christie and Rex Stout. I have read their books over and over and to me they still evoke pleasant childhood memories much like Mom's meatloaf and macaroni and cheese. In my case however, my Mom's cooking only evoked horror. She was a Cuban socialite who came to this country as a refugee and before the Castro revolution had never stepped inside a kitchen(not that much has changed in the last 50 years). My brothers and I were probably the only kids who looked forward to school cafeteria food.
In spite of these influences, I don't write mysteries. I write romances set in Florida in the late nineteenth century. I love my adopted state and find it's pioneer history fascinating.
My first Historical Romance will be out soon (hopefully before the next lunar eclipse)It is being published by HEARTS ON FIRE PRESS. I'm very excited because it's been a lifelong dream. I'm currently writing my second novel called THE HOMECOMING.

Eating is my favorite hobby, why deny it. I also love to swim and often go to the beach, which is one of the reasons I love to live in South Florida.
