Ms. Stepanek is an award-winning reporter, writer, and editor with byline credits in national consumer, news, specialty, and business magazines, online publications and radio/TV including NPR, PBS, The Chicago Tribune, msnbc.com, and Salon.com. Also the founding editor-in-chief of Contribute Media, a new national magazine, Web site, and events/conferences series, New Conversations for Change, that covers social entrepreneurs and the new philanthropy movement; also creator and publisher of CauseGlobal, a news blog she founded in 2008 that covers the growing use of social media to affect social change globally. Distinguished honors include being a finalist for a Pulitzer Prize and the recipient of numerous awards and fellowships, including a George Polk Award for consumer writing; a National Press Club Award for Washington Correspondence; a New York Newswomen's Front Page Award for Internet commentary; a national Clarion Award from the Association for Women in Communications for investigative reporting, and two American Business Press Magazine Editor's Gold Awards for editing in 2003 and 2004, among others. Also was a John S. Knight Fellow at Stanford University and a Jefferson Fellow in Asian Studies at the East-West Center at the University of Hawaii, specializing in Japan and China.
