Had to laugh when I read this from TWoP poster, lilyredd regarding the current state of affairs at One Life to Live:
Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, when will this show cease with the constant influx of unwanted and unnecessary new characters--particularly of the female variety. When we have characters who are important like Dorian, Blair, Viki, Nora twiddling their thumbs usually in other character's stories or simply disappearing for weeks on end, to bring on more and more and more of these actresses is a slap in the face to long-time viewers of OLTL.
And this, from QueenMaharet:
And at the rate that OLTL is throwing newbie after newbie into the mix and worse yet, shoving them front-and-center instantaneously, it's as though they are willfully disregarding their current (aka, loyal) viewers. It's a blatant act of defiance on their part and it's wholly unappreciated.
And one more from varnish7:
There are no connections anymore. Everyone's involved in their own particular storyline and that's it. It really gives you the sense that you're watching a TV show.
Lord know,I can certainly empathize with their frustration. Change the names, and include Hughes men, and their comments echo almost verbatim what As the World Turns fans were saying for… how long? Although, I have to say, I don’t recall the parade of ABC Daytime actors on ATWT being quite so compressed: OLTL has added four former P&G actors (Jessica Leccia, Gina Tognoni, Jessica Leccia, Kim Zimmer, and now, Terri Colombino) in less than a year.
I did chuckle, but there’s really nothing funny about it. The show’s executive producer, Frank Valentini, and head writer, Ron Carliviti, just signed two-year contracts. Yet, OLTL’s current narrative structure is becoming more and more like that of ATWT’s final years. Talk about mixed messages. Makes you wonder if maybe there's some kind of secret pact between Brian Frons and Barbara Bloom to eliminate the New York soaps.
