Thanksgiving isn't the only day for giving thanks.
My thoughts about giving thanks were changed by a book by Louise Hay, a collection of essays, in fact, by different authors, entitled Gratitude, A Way of Life. I keep it close, and when I'm feeling down, I open it at random and read. One of the essays said something I'll never forget: When you're feeling gratitude, you can't feel anything else. Not sorrow or grief or guilt, not anger or resentment.
Each night at bedtime, I list 5 things I'm grateful for. I once thought this would be tough, but what's hard is limiting it to only 5. I have to remind myself that tomorrow night I'll get to list another five and another and another.
