Debut Novel, "Kincaid's Call" Released
Kincaid's Call by Leigh D'Ansey

What a thrill it was to see my debut novel live on The Wild Rose Press website. "Kincaid's Call" took years to finish as I wrote in a stop-start fashion for a long time. The MS was highly commended in the New Zealand Romance Writers Clendon Award but subsequently rejected by Harlequin Mills and Boon. Two pages of highly constructive feedback came with the rejection, although it was recommended that I didn't resubmit the MS to M&B.

I'm sure every writer appreciates that hollow, dispirited feeling when hopes are running high. I put the MS in a drawer and there it sat for a couple of years. Around Christmas 2009 I decided to declutter my house, found the MS, sat down, did some re-reading and re-writing and submitted to The Wild Rose Press. I was so delighted to see the acceptance pop up in my email. Some disappointment arose as I realised Kincaid's Call would not be available from TWRP in print as it falls short of their required word count for print books (64,000).

But, there it is with a gorgeous cover and available for readers who love romance anywhere in the world. I'm delighted to be a pubished romance novelist at last. Thanks to the great team at The Wild Rose Press, especially editor Stephanie Parent and cover designer Rae Monet. I've been so impressed with TWRP - all queries are speedily answered in a professional and friendly way. It's been a great couple of days.

I was interviewed today on the Working Writers Blog - check it out.
