When I finished high school, I decided to apply for the Languages and Arts Institute at the Federal University in my hometown. Before applying, though, I received all kinds of advice, especially from my parents´ friends and acquaintances. I always did well at school, so people around me expected that I´d go for some sort of traditional carreer. There are many physicians and lawyers in the family, I just had to follow the path, so they thought. One of those acquaintances even had the nerve to say You´re so smart, why don´t go to Law School? You´re gonna waste your time with those things, they don´t make money.
I went to the Languages and Arts Institute and it was the best choice I could´ve made. I loved it there. I found my soul there.
To my surprise, when I was checking some animation videos on You Tube the other day, I found this precious one called Mano de Pincel (Paint Brush Hand). It is actually a commercial for an educational website and portal in Chile, but it´s really well-done, and it´s got some inspiration from Edward Scissorhands, by Tim Burton. I connected with the story instantly and it took me back many years ago. I always find these journeys in time very interesting. Just like a Borges story. But that´s another blog.
Well, here´s the link : http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=zrwmldwUBg4
It´s in Spanish, but even if you don´t understand it, the images speak for themselves. Enjoy.
