This piece entitled "Long odds for authors newly published" is both depressing and uplifting. The former because it illuminates the BS of the publishing business; the latter because it shows us all that even authors with big agents and publishers can end up in the bargain bin at B&N without a whole lot of support behind them.
The last line said it all: "A book's fate is ultimately in the hands of the book gods."
I wonder if those gods have a church. I'll go light a candle.
