I've been playing with a new website this morning. It analyzes text that you enter and then tells you who you write like.
I'm not sure I like it's opinions. I entered the text of my most recent blog post (about listening to music in cafes when I write). The website says I write like H. P. Lovecraft.
When I put in the blog post about my kitchen remodel and my dad's heart failure, it said I wrote like Cory Doctorow.
I could live with either of those comparisons, even if I don't think they're true. But when I put in the most recent Cemetery of the Week post, about the New Jewish Cemetery of Prague, the website claimed I write like Dan Brown.
That's just insulting.
I put in the text of my essay about visiting the Day of the Dead celebration at Hollywood Forever, expecting to be compared to Ray Bradbury, and I got Dan Brown again.
I had to reach back to my descriptions of the Calistoga Pioneer Cemetery to be compared to H. P. Lovecraft again.
