Loraine Despres's Biography
Member Info
I'm a literary novelist and recovering screenwriter. My books include THE SCANDALOUS SUMMER OF SISSY LEBLANC, THE BAD BEHAVIOR OF BELLE CANTRELL, and THE SOUTHERN BELLE'S HANDBOOK, SISSY LEBLANC'S RULES TO LIVE BY. My tag line comes from my second novel, BAD BEHAVIOR. During my screenwriting days, I wrote pilots, movies, and many episodes including the "Who Shot J.R.?" episode of DALLAS. Influences
When I wrote THE SCANDALOUS SUMMER OF SISSY LEBLANC I was influenced by Flaubert and tried to write a 20th Century Madam Bovary in Louisiana. THE BAD BEHAVIOR OF BELLE CANTRELL was based on a shoot-out in my family, but I was certainly influenced by Edith Wharton.
