I am a writer from New York City — and I'd love to start a writing group where people can come together, share work and publishing techniques. I'm an editor of a literary journal (www.caperjournal.com) and have just completed a manuscript. I've been published on several journals and want to work in the community with people some more. I'm in Brooklyn to be exact. I've been noticing the potency of writing groups for several reasons:
a) sharing work, developing ideas
b) networking, promoting our own works and books
c) being active in the community of writers . . . hopefully to perform/print and help one another out.
Would anyone like to meet up during the week (after the 9-5 hours) or perhaps on weekends to share writing, publishing ideas, endeavors and etc? I live in Brooklyn (Park Slope, Prospect Heights) and have some places in mind, though I would be willing to meet in Manhattan M-F after work for 1-2 hours.
We could also create a network via a blog/create a Redroom club and share work on there, post responses to one another's poetry and fiction, and share links (during the time we're not meeting in person.) It's just a thought for those who might want to contribute but can do more so online.
Is anyone willing to join? I'd like to focus on poetry/fiction and on serious writing endeavors: finished works, pre-publishing ideas, people with a definitive goal in mind.
I hope that some people would like to meet! Respond on here, or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Anyone think Wednesdays or Thursdays would work?
