Long before the University of Constantinople was established as an institution of higher learning in 425 AD, before Socrates walked the marble corridors of Ancient Agora recording his wisdom on parchment, the caveman was pumping out non-fiction.
When I complete a manuscript, I set out to do my revisions with caveman in mind.
After all, the caveman was the original author. No, he did not have an agent, revered University degree, ISBN number, or listing with Barker and Taylor.
Caveman's storytelling was void of words, but not of language. I can't help but think of him as a role model. His was a language of paintings drawn on cave walls depicting the success of the hunt. Likely, the original “Fish Tale.”
Short and sweet, the masses understood and they got the point immediately.
Edit, edit, edit. My pages go on a word diet. Seeking to be understood by the masses, no degree required-- ala Caveman.
