I have a little blue box. It is filled with hundreds of daily thoughts and quotes. Each thought lovingly handwritten and carefully rolled into a precious scroll. It was given to me as a gift.
The scrolls are so tightly rolled that each day, as I reach inside the box and carefully pull up a tiny scroll, it takes just that extra moment of anticipation to expose the words and release their meaning.
The words are so wonderfully eloquent. Wise words, positive words, enlightening words, words that lift your soul, words that make you smile, words that heal, words that give you hope and words with which to start your day.
Sometimes when a guest comes to visit I may offer a scroll like one would offer a cup of tea. I pass my little twitter box and we would both partake of its wisdom and immediately feel re-energized, rejuvenated and invigorated.
When I began to join the online Twitter™ world it reminded me of my little box. I found myself looking for little words of wisdom – neatly scrolled into tweets.
My Mother wrote the words in my little blue box. She had copied the words from her bible. They were her God’s words. She wanted to share these words- so in her last few years she sat for hours writing, rolling and placing the hundreds of scrolls in 5 little blue boxes for her children.
I don’t need to wonder where I get my love for quotes and thoughts.
In the lid of my little twitter box, my Mother wrote "When wisdom entereth into thine heart - and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul - discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee. Proverbs 2. 10 & 11.
My scroll for today is :
"Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right" Proverbs 16.8
What a wonderful gift we can all leave our children - little rolled scrolls of written treasures to be read and enjoyed in our memory.
