Making things happen, by the way, has nothing to do with New Year Resolutions.
New Year Resolutions are filled with guilt and promises that often we cannot keep.
We may be a little overweight, need to exercise more, be kinder to those around us and want to be wiser, richer and younger. But realistically taking on all that pressure before the year has even got underway has “failure” written all over it.
Now “making things happen” is what I am talking about. Three little words filled with adrenalin, optimism, anticipation and courage.
What is it that YOU want to make happen? Make 2013 YOUR year. It is time to write it down and make things happen.
I returned to the States just six months ago. I needed a new plan, a project, a purpose. So I chose 3 projects taken from my 5 year plan.
1. Publish a Book
2. Create and develop a social network
3. Learn a new Industry.
These all require ACTION, RESEARCH, DEDICATED TIME, and most importantly a COMPLETION DATE.
If you only have limited time that you can dedicate to your new project or projects – then choose only one to start with. It must be a project that involves your deepest passion and one that, once started, grips hold of your talents and knowledge and manifests itself into a successful accomplishment.
Once you have decided upon what you want to make happen… then spend time every day on the project. If you don’t have time to do physical tasks then do mental tasks. Visualizing your project’s path to completion is critical in its success.
Take each failure along the way as a gift. Each time you stumble it is a reminder to look ahead and not down. When you come to a wall it is a reminder to choose another path to get to where you are going.
I have learned that when a project seems to flow easily that I am on the right path. Trust in your intuition.
