The Moment I Got The Idea For My Second Book: Having failed to sell Waiting for Dead Men’s Shoes, and having realized that my income as a PW reviewer was going to be insufficient to pay the mortgage, I took a second part-time job as a window washer. Window washing, it turns out, is great for creativity. One day, as I was doing the windows in a bathroom, I looked over at the toilet and it hit me: the idea for my second book.
