Moments of a Writer's Life, #122

The Moment I Was Really Mocked: Google Alert notified me there was a new review of Crazy Beautiful and I eagerly went to look; eagerly because the reviews so far had been overwhelmingly positive. What I found was one of the most scathing reviews I’d ever received. Not only was it scathing, but the tone was unabashedly mocking, gleefully shredding recto and verso every page in a book I’d put my heart and good intentions into. Sure, I’d been hated before, and had even grown used to it, but never on such an all-encompassing scale. Well, since in one sense I was breaking new ground in my life as a writer, maybe this qualified as some kind of crazy-ass achievement?
