where the writers are
Fortune-Cookie Tips for Writers, #252

I thought we’d dispensed with the topic of blurbs a while back but...when asking for blurbs from an obviously more famous writer (because why would you ever request a blurb from someone less famous), resist the impulse to make it sound as though it is you who are doing them a favor, as in, “This will be really good for your career because people will see your name on the back of my book and you will sell more of your own books as a result!” – I can’t believe I have to tell people not to do this but apparently I do.
